Having used gold and silver coils in the past and seeing no real difference in performance and longevity I was skeptical when asked to try another gold coil.  Eight months later I was convinced.  My 7-year-old ELAN-6000 was still performing at a level above a new copper coil.  I was so impressed that I upgraded my ELAN 9000, and 6100 to the Noble Coil.  It rarely ever "double strikes" during ignition, reducing the number of torches consumed by 50%. During the past year I have purchased only 4 coils and 2 torches for 3 instruments while running them 16 hours a day seven days a week.

I can say without reservation that the Noble Coil is one of the best ICP-MS upgrades that I have seen in my nine years in the field.

I have serviced ICP/MS instruments for 15 years; I did not know that a coil could make such a difference. Not only does the intensity increase dramatically, it holds, as does the condition of the coil.  I would take this coil 3:1 against any regular copper coil and come out ahead on any value.

We have been using a Noble Coil in our PE ELAN 6100 about 5 months. Sensitivity was initially increased by about 30% and this increase has been stable for these past 5 months. The coil itself looks as new as the day it was installed. I have seen no evidence of arcing between the Noble Coil and the torch. Though not common, this arcing occurred with enough frequency to slowly damage the torch and the coil while using the original copper coil. We have since installed Noble Coils in both our PE ELAN 6000 and our PE ELAN DRC PLUS. This product is the best on the market.
